Interview with colleague Roxane

In the #PortPeople section, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges puts port colleagues in the spotlight. Colleague Roxane, who works at PSA Zeebrugge, speaks.

Roxane (46) is a jack-of-all-trades at PSA Zeebrugge, a logistics hub specializing in the handling of pulp and paper products. PSA has terminals in both Antwerp and Zeebrugge. As a lasher, she securely fastens the goods from the ships in the warehouses. She also works as a forklift driver and as a signal woman for general cargo. She explains: “I use different signals to indicate to the operator where the crane should be positioned.”

At our company, everyone is addressed by their first name. Every employee is given equal opportunities, and you earn your living based on your responsibilities and commitment. There is no difference between men and women or between women with children and those without. It couldn't be fairer.

The best thing about her job? Being outdoors! “I can always enjoy a beautiful sunrise or a colorful sunset. Working in the open air, that's what I do it for!” The family atmosphere also fuels Roxane's enthusiasm. "Everyone is addressed by their first name here. Every employee is given equal opportunities, and you earn your living based on your responsibilities and commitment. There is no difference between men and women or between women with children and without. It couldn't be fairer."

The family atmosphere in the workplace sometimes leads to hilarious moments. “During an event, I once had a chat with a man I didn't know. He was very nice and we had a good conversation. My colleagues looked at me strangely. Apparently, I had unwittingly struck up a conversation with ‘my big boss’... ”
